Leche Salud and IPI: the first UHT milk in 1000 ml Base aseptic brick with tethered twist cap launched on the El Salvador market

In El Salvador, IPI installed its MT121 capper on an existing aseptic line, enabling Leche Salud to become the first producer to offer dairy products in the 1000 ml Base format with tethered cap. An innovation that literally gives new life to a classic packaging format: high-quality UHT milk, now in a practical, modern and sustainable pack – already compliant with the SUP Directive.

A new milestone for IPI in El Salvador

The project developed with Leche Salud further strengthens IPI’s presence in the American region, where over the years the company has built a solid and steadily growing business, expanding its customer base and volumes of aseptic packaging material supplied.

IPI and Leche Salud had already collaborated in the past, but this new project represents a significant step forward. It is not simply the supply of packaging lines, but a project that enabled the customer to renew a well-known product such as the 1000 ml Base aseptic brick, making it current and unique on the local market thanks to the tethered twist cap.

The 1000 Base with screw cap is today a rarity worldwide.
IPI is the only company able to offer 1000 Base aseptic material with PLH (pre-laminated hole), specifically designed for the application of a screw cap, and to supply the related MT121 capper. This combination allows IPI to provide a complete and integrated solution, capable of addressing market needs not fully covered by other suppliers.

Leche Salud

Leche Salud is a leading company in the Salvadoran dairy market, with a 92% share in the fresh milk segment. With over 70 years of experience, the company produces and distributes milk and juices under its own brand, recognized by consumers for quality, safety and reliability.

In recent years, following the steady growth in long-life milk consumption, Leche Salud identified the need to add value to this product line by updating the packaging to fully reflect the quality that has always distinguished the brand. The project began with a restyling of the pack design and later expanded to the search for a more modern and user-friendly closure.

The collaboration with IPI led to the choice of the EC23 solution, a practical and functional cap that meets consumer needs and further enhances the product’s presence on shelves.

The project

To improve appeal and convenience, the 1000 ml Base format was upgraded by introducing a screw cap in the tethered version. A solution that is currently almost absent from the market, offering consumers a more convenient and modern user experience, while reinforcing the brand’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.

The tethered cap represents a responsible choice, as it remains attached to the container after opening, reducing the risk of dispersion and complying with European directives on the reduction of plastic litter.

IPI’s solution

IPI supplied a tailor-made solution consisting of:

the MT121 capper, capable of applying a tethered screw cap, already compliant with European sustainability standards
1000 ml Base aseptic packaging material with PLH, designed for screw cap application

The intervention was integrated into Leche Salud’s existing line without the need to replace the aseptic filler or modify downstream equipment, ensuring a fast, efficient and cost-effective upgrade.

The result is a completely renewed, modern and recognizable packaging solution that enhances both the product and Leche Salud’s brand identity.

IPI is currently the only producer able to supply and apply this type of screw cap on the 1000 Base format.

Thanks to this solution, Leche Salud was able to modernize its packaging without investing in a new line.

The new format combines quality, practicality and sustainability, enabling the company to anticipate future environmental regulations and be ready for potential exports to markets adopting stricter standards, such as the European one.
